My daughter collects Shopkins by the dozens! These little toys are taking over her room on inch at a time. So, we decided to make a Shopkins Display for these little cuties. We wanted to get them up on the wall so she could easily see and organize her fun collection. This project was cheap, fun and makes a great statement piece in her room decorations!
This project only requires a quick trip to the dollar store and your imagination! It really was that easy! Here is what you are going to need:
- Ice cube trays (packs of 2 at the dollar store)
- Poster board or cardboard
- Hot glue gun
- Command Velcro Strips
The first thing we did to create our Shopkins Display was decide where we wanted to hang the display. This will determine how it is put together and the number of ice cube trays that are needed. Once we decided where we were hanging it, we laid out the trays and moved colors around until we had the look we wanted.
I cut out a strip of poster board to connect the two rows together using the hot glue gun. You need some kind of back to attach the ice cube trays to! If you try to just attach the trays together without a back, they will fall apart and scatter your organized Shopkins everywhere! (Don’t ask me how I know…haha)
Once they are all glued in place, we used ribbon to decorate the front and cover the seams. I put a Command Velcro strip in each corner to attach it to the wall and make it easy to take down without ruining the paint. My daughter added a Shopkins Beados decoration to the front of the Shopkins Display and started organizing her small treasures (again) into their new homes. I love the color it added to her room and the decorations are now her favorite toys!
How do you display your Shopkins? Could you use these for other small toys? I would love to see your ideas and creations!
